“Light” is closely linked with human life. With the increase of LED lights popularity and technology, visible light communication system for radio communication has played a good supplement. Visible Light Communication (VLC) is a revolutionary communication technology that makes use of visible light from LED lights to carry information wirelessly between devices. As the available bandwidth of the visible light spectrum is much larger than that of the RF spectrum, the problem of wireless bandwidth shortage may be solved in the future. Lights for illumination purposes already exist in many places in our daily life and they can easily serve as the new infrastructure to provide pervasive wireless communications with minimum additional energy consumption and deployment cost. VLC system will strong influence radio communication and quality of human life.
The primary goal of the special session on Visible Light Communications is to provide an overview of the capabilities of state-of-the-art VLC system, -to discuss the challenges of VLC system in practical single-link and multi-user communication scenarios, and PLC-VLC integrated system through modulation algorithms and integrated circuit design - to discuss challenging circuit and system design stories out of different application fields where VLC system has been successfully applied what is referred to as Li-Fi the networked, mobile, etc.
