Flying to 2050
Submission deadline: 06/01/2014
Scope and purposes
The theme of this special issue is to provide an overview of technologies that will be application ready or at high level of maturity by 2050. Technologies may cover a wide range of topics, including flight safety, flight efficiency, operations, environmental issues, in-service maintenance and support, air traffic management, etc. The articles will give a good impression on what will be the driving technologies in aviation by 2050.
Topics of primary interest include, but are not limited to:
• Aerodynamics (drag reduction, L/D improvement, high lift devices) • Materials (composites, hybrid materials, light-weight alloys) • Maintenance (SHM, condition-based maintenance) • Flight safety (automatic oceanic navigation, aircraft tracking) • Aerospace Design (alternative configurations, more-electric aircraft)

Structural Health Monitoring using vibration based methods
Submission deadline: July 1, 2014
Scope and purposes
Although, all aspects of research about structural health monitoring are encouraged, we are particularly interested in research related to vibration based methods. Additionally, papers dealing with modeling of damage using finite-element and other methodologies are also of particular of interest.
Topics of primary interest include, but are not limited to:
• Vibration based structural health monitoring;• Inverse methods; • Direct methods; • Damage modeling techniques;• Experimental verification of existing techniques;• CAE based verification of existing techniques.
